Four locally-owned, independent Kentucky pharmacies hosted stops of the national Health Mart Healthy Living Tour this week, offering free health screenings to their communities. The fourth and final Kentucky stop for the tour will be at Riley-White Drug Store in Russellville, KY tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Utilizing the tour’s mobile health screening unit, Riley-White Drug Store will offer complimentary health screenings for risks associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and obesity to the community, and the pharmacist will be on hand to discuss ways to monitor and treat participants’ ongoing healthcare needs. No appointments are required.
The Health Mart Healthy Living Tour is a unique way for independent pharmacies to provide added value and services to their customers and community and provides an opportunity for individuals with or without regular access to medical care to uncover and monitor some common health concerns. This is the sixth year the national health screening tour has offered free health screenings nationwide. The four scheduled stops in Kentucky were: Total Care Pharmacy (Morehead; Sept. 14, 9 a.m. 12 p.m.), Taylor Drug Store (Pineville; Sept. 15, 3-6 p.m.), Blue Grass Drug Store (Danville; Sept. 16, 3-6 p.m.), and Riley-White Drugs (Russellville; Sept. 17, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.). The Health Mart Healthy Living Tour will next travel to Tennessee.
