Auto accident sends two to hospital


The Logan County Sheriffs Department responded to a single vehicle accident on Hwy. 68/80, three miles west of Auburn on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015.

After arriving, it was found that 62-year-old Anthony Bellamy and his wife Tanya Bellamy, 59, of Indianapolis, Ind. were traveling west bound on 68/80 east heading toward Russellville. According to Mr Bellamy when he looked down at his dash and saw the check engine light was on. When he looked up, he was running off the left hand side of the roadway.

Mr Bellamy over-corrected and ran off the right side of the roadway, sliding sideways up an embankment coming to rest against a group of small trees.

Mrs Bellamy was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital complaining of stomach pain due to the seat belt and the impact of hitting the trees. Mr. Bellamy was complaining of back pain and was later transported by POV to Logan Memorial Hospital.

Deputy Billy Poole of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was the investigating officer. He was assisted by Sgt Shawn Embry of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Logan County EMS and the Auburn Rural Fire Department First Responders.
