Roger D. Manning, 23, of Russellville is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 3 in the Logan Circuit Court for first degree sexual abuse.

Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Justin Crocker said Manning entered a guilty plea June 4, 2015, to the charge.

“We are opposed to probation in this case based on the circumstances and the history of Manning,” said Crocker.

The charge carries a five year maximum sentence. By pleading guilty, Manning accepts an agreement of a two year term.

Manning was indicted for sexual abuse in the first degree in May.

The indictment reads that Manning on or between the first day of September, 2014, and the 31st day of October, 2014, in Logan County, and being against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, knowingly and unlawfully committed the offense of sexual abuse in the first degree when being 21 years of older, he subjected another person, who was less than 16 years old, to sexual contact when he placed his hands down the victim’s shorts and touched her in a sexual manner.
