A Todd County man was arrested near Walmart last week after he was involved in a hit and run accident at Logan County High School.

On Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 5:43 p.m., Sergeant Clint Wright of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a hit and run accident at Logan County High School after a caller said that his vehicle had been swiped by another vehicle that had then left and headed toward Russellville.

A short time later, the vehicle was found at the AT&T store near WalMart, according to a police report. During the course of the investigation, Wright requested officer Chris Bellar and his canine Jaxx to conduct an exterior search of the vehicle for any illegal narcotics.

The dog alerted officers on the passenger side of the vehicle and after searching the passenger side compartment, officers found 58.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a digital scales, nine plastic baggies and $246 in cash.

Brandon S. Higgins, 31 of Elkton, was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, trafficking in methamphetamine, first degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wright was assisted by deputy Kyler Harvey, officer Seth Whittaker, Bellar and Jaxx.
