Gary and Jennifer Jenkins were recently recognized as the 2016 Logan County Farm Bureau’s Outstanding Young Farm Family by the Logan County Farm Bureau.
The Jenkins have a grain and tobacco farm operation. They have a new tobacco barn that is unique. The barn has a sheet medal exterior with horizontal vents to allow curing of the tobacco. Gary said the new design works well. He has also been raising no till tobacco which the Logan County Conservation District has been advocating. This new farming technique is working well and they are pleased with the results. Their grain operation consists of raising corn, wheat and soybeans.
Jennifer is a school teacher at the Adairville Middle School.
Applications for Outstanding Young Farm Family for 2017 can be picked up at the Logan County Farm Bureau Office. The winners of this contest receive $200.
