Paul W. Barret, Jr. Graduate School of Banking in Memphis, Tennessee recently announced the graduation of Edna H. Hughes, Executive Vice-President/Senior Lender of Lewisburg Banking Company Lewisburg, Kentucky. Mrs. Hughes is a member of the Board of Directors of Lewisburg Banking Company and Lewisburg Bancshares Corporation, where she serves as Secretary. She was the only one selected from her 2015 graduating class to serve on a twenty person Alumni Board for the Barret School.
Fifty-eight students completed the three year curriculum and graduated in the 2015 class. The school was held May 17-22 on the campus of Christian Brothers University in Memphis. David Crader, Chairman of the Board of Regents of Paul W. Barret, Jr. School of Banking, spoke at the graduation ceremony and congratulated the graduates on behalf of the Board.
In addition to course work, students attended the annual Paul W. Barret, Jr.
Lecture Series event. Tony LaRussa, Three-Time World Series Champion, addressed School participants and invited guests on the importance of teamwork and how to lead a successful organization.
Paul W. Barret, Jr. Graduate School of Banking has been providing advanced banking education for forty-three years, with a curriculum designed to provide a high degree of understanding of all commercial banking functions. During the three-year program, graduates received 125 hours of classroom instruction and prepared in-depth reports in eight areas of study. Approximately 250 financial industry professionals from eighteen states participated in the 2015 session.
Mrs. Hughes has worked over 35 years in the banking industry in Logan County. She began at Auburn Banking Company where she worked with her father, Vernon, Uncle Glenn and Aunt Sybil Tinsley. She has been employed by Lewisburg Banking Company since August 1999. Mrs. Hughes is very active in many civic organizations in Logan County. She is a member of New Friendship Baptist Church in Auburn, Past President and member of Russellville Rotary Club, past member (first woman in KY to join Rotary) and past President of Auburn Rotary Club, past board member and Past President (twice) of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, 2005 Chamber Volunteer of the Year, and Women In Business Chairperson in 2010. She lives in Auburn with her husband Mike, daughter Sara, and granddaughter, Harper. Her daughter, Meredith, lives in Atlanta. She is the daughter of Mrs. Eloise Hadden and the late Vernon Hadden.
