Johnsons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary


Drexel and Vernita Johnson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 7, 2017. They were married May 6th, 1967, at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Butler County, Ky.

Drexel is currently serving his seventh year as Logan County District Four Magistrate. He was previously employed by the Logan Telephone Co-op from which he retired after thirty-one years of service. Vernita retired from the Logan County School system after fifteen years of serving Lewisburg Elementary.

They have two children; Meloney Wilson and husband Jimmy Kent Wilson and Consuelo Hawkins and husband Gary Hawkins. They have five grandchildren; Amelia Nunley and husband Adam Nunley, Clair Wilson, Harrison Wilson, Elijah Hawkins and Issac Hawkins.

There will be a reception honoring Drexel and Vernita Johnson at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Butler County on May 7, 2017, from 2-5 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend.
