He was born in Todd County Nov. 5, 1934, a son of the late Richard E. and Hessie Collins Hyams. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hymes was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Hyams; his son, Michael Hyams and his sister, Agnes Eden.
Mr. Hyams worked as a carpenter with Kenneth White Construction for many years and is a member of the New Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Donnie Blick officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation began Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 5- 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Adam Mayhew, Bobby Hyams, Elmer Hyams, Terry Hyams, Morris Hyams and Marion Hyams. Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Reeves, Brian Hyams, Timmy Hyams, Jim Sweeney, Frank Castille and Doug Spiegel.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph Dewayne Hyams of Russellville and Richard Allen Hyams and wife Judy of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; his daughter, Wanda May Mayhew of Russellville; his brothers, Elmer Hyams and wife Barbara, Marion Thomas Hyams and wife Marina and Morris Hyams and wife Barbara, all of Russellville and Terry Hyams and wife Penny of Elkton; his sisters, Virginia Stokes of Jacksonville, Fla., Betty Castille and husband Frank of Russellville and Carolyn Spiegel and husband Doug of Hopkinsville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
