On Thursday March 3rd, McKenzie signed his letter of intent to play golf for the university next school year.
“He’s got what it takes to be a good college golfer,” LCHS coach Ethan Meguiar said.
Will McKenzie played golf throughout his high school career, being a five-year letterman for the Cougars and will continue onto his college career at the Owensboro college.
“He’s one of our crown jewels – he’s one of the few Trustee Scholars I’ve gotten,” said Brescia men’s golf coach David Ballou.
A Trustee Scholar is one of the best scholarships a person can get from Brescia.
“We’re just proud of Will, he gets an opportunity to do what he loves to do which is play golf and go to school and that the hard work paid off,” Meguiar said.
McKenzie capped his career at Logan County off with a 3rd place finish in the Region 3 tournament that qualified him for the 2010 KY High School Athletic Association’s state golf tournament.
“I wanted to thank everybody for supporting me the last five years,” McKenzie said. “I just want to say thank you to everybody.”
