RHS hires new baseball coach

Russellville Independent School system will be changing up some of their spring sports this year. Russellville High School has hired new head baseball coach, Ryan “Blake” Crabtree, to replace former coach Greg Shelton.

Russellville Middle School will also start a softball team.

Crabtree is a graduate of Barren County High School where he played baseball under the direction of Coach Johnny Vance. Crabtree went on to play a semester at Volunteer State until he was chosen by the Western Kentucky University Baseball Program. As a member of the WKU team, he played second and third base during his career.

Crabtree graduated from WKU with a teaching deree in Health and PE and will join the RHS staff as both a teacher and a coach. Crabtree was the assistance coach at Barren County last year while working under Coach Vance.

Russellville is extremely excited about Coach Crabtree joining their staff and being a RHS Panther, according to principal Kim McDaniel.

Russellville will also begin their tryouts for the Middle School softball team on July 21 and July 22 from 5-6:30 at the Lady Panther Softball field. For more information contact Russellville High School Athletic Director, Calvin Head, or Russellville High School head softball coach, Brandy Trimble.
