The deGraffenried Chorale will be performing at Barnes & Noble in Bowling Green this weekend as part of a special fund raiser it is taking part in.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, if you make any purchases at the Bowling Green Barnes & Noble and mention the deGraffenried Chorale at checkout, a portion of the sale will be donated to the group.
The Chorale is currently preparing for its annual Christmas concert and will be performing a portion of it that evening for customers at Barnes & Noble.
If you can’t make it to Bowling Green this weekend and still want to take part, you can also make purchases online through the Barnes & Noble website.
Just go to bn.com/bookfairs and use the ID code 11216140 at checkout and a portion of the online sales will also be donated to the Chorale. The online code can be used Nov. 23 through Nov. 28.
This is the 35th season for the Chorale, which has been bringing choral music to Russellville by using talented local vocalists and accompanists for all of those years.
The Chorale always wraps up the season with a special Christmas concert. This year’s concert will be on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Methodist Temple.
Director Mary Beth Dowden has been a part of the chorale since its inception 35 years ago and wants to see the tradition of wonderful music continue far into the future.
“I was one of the founding members who sat in Hazel Carver’s living room floor and expressed a desire for an opportunity to be a part of excellent chorale music outside of school and church,” she said. “And we’ve had a tradition of doing just that.”
The Chorale must pay for all of the music it uses in concerts and raises that money through donations and fund raisers like the one planned for this weekend.
