How can this possibly be, since God clearly wants all people to be saved? He loved this world so much that He sent his only begotten Son to die for us, that we should all have eternal life (John 3:16). God's will is that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of His truth (I Tim 2:4). The Lord wants none of us to perish, has promised salvation, and is patiently waiting for each of us to repent and accept His terms, that we might be saved (II Peter 3:9).

The first reason a person cannot be saved is because they have no interest in the spiritual blessings God offers. Some even refuse to have the knowledge of God in their lives, turning from the dignity and dominion of God to vile afflictions and turn His truth into a lie. They fill their lives with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whispering, backbiting, being spiteful, proud, boasters, disobedient to parents, without natural affection, and unmerciful. God says those who commit such things are judged worthy of death, so He gave such over to a reprobate mind to do these things (Rom. 1:21-32). These people cannot be saved.

The next reason people cannot be saved is because they reject the Bible as the inspired Word of God. They simply demote the Bible to just another human book, made up by men to gain control over men. If men reject the truth of the Bible, then they also reject the truth of Jesus Christ. Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). Without the Bible and the Word, we can never know the truth and be made free from sin (John 8:32). God sent his Son to die for our sins and without Him, there is no forgiveness of sin. We know the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord (Rom. 6:23). Without the freedom of the truth, we will spend all our days in bondage to sin, and the fear of death. Jesus tells us that heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matt. 24:35). If one turns down the bible and rejects the salvation made possible by Jesus Christ, then he cannot be saved.

Many fully understand the truth and realize the consequences of their sin, yet they refuse to repent and change. To repent is to determine to live differently, turning from sin to live as the Lord requires us to live. Jesus says, "I tell you, no, but except you repent you shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3). Therefore, if one knows he is living in sin and is determined to do so, refusing to change, then it is impossible for such a one to be saved.

God freely offers His saving grace to all men, and Jesus shed his precious blood for every person that ever lived upon this earth. Salvation is free to all, but we must accept the conditions set forth, and live our lives according to God's Holy plan, or we cannot be saved.

We have but two choices in this life, either believe and obey to be saved, or reject and refuse, and be lost. Which will you choose?
