Jacob Naylor, the multi-sport Senior Russellville Panther, broke a 39-year record on Tuesday. Naylor scored 48 points during the 78-76 win over McLean County.

The Russellville school record for points in a single game was held by Roderick Holman who scored 45 points in a 1979 game. Naylor broke the record by nailing a 3-pointer in the 4th quarter.

It was obvious early on that Jacob Naylor was going to have a special game. The Senior scored 16 in the first quarter alone, including four 3-pointers. The Panthers were down 22-20 after the first period.

Russellville scored 22 in the second frame and took a 42-36 lead into the half. Both teams scored 19 in the 3rd quarter making the score 61-55 in favor of Russellville going into the final quarter.

Naylor scored ten more in the 4th quarter to break the record with 48 total. Elijah Kemp scored the game-winning points on a layup.

The Panthers pick up the first win of the season with the 78-76 victory.

Russellville hits the road tonight and will play Muhlenberg County.
