Friday night was Senior night at Logan County High School. The Cougars hosted the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons. Madisonville came to Cougar Stadium hungry for revenge from the upset last season. The Cougars beat the Maroons in Madisonville a year ago to win the district championship. Friday's results went a different direction. Madisonville pulled out the win, 21-17.

The Maroons struck first in the game midway through the first quarter. A 5-yards touchdown and extra point made it 7-0 Madisonville. Logan County would not score until late in the 2nd quarter on a 1-yard Tyler Ezell run. The kick by Lucas Arevalo tied it at 7-7.

Just before halftime, Ezell found Rooster Woodard for a 35-yard strike to send the Cougars into the locker room leading 14-7.

Logan County would add to the lead halfway through the 3rd quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Arevalo. The 17-7 score would stick until the 6:02 mark in the last quarter. Madisonville ran for 29-yards to make it 17-14. The Cougars fumbled on the following kickoff near the goal line. The Maroons got the ball back and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 5:00 left in the game.

The final was 21-17 in favor of the visitors. The loss puts the Cougars at (7-1) on the season.

Logan County put up 323 yards of offense in the game compared to only 175 by the Maroons. Ezell threw for 180 yards. Gary Hardy rushed for 104 yards. Chandler Silvey caught six passes for 105 yards.

The Cougars get Calloway County (3-5) on the road this Friday.

The Russellville Panthers got a blowout win at home on Saturday. The Panthers beat the Fulton City Bulldogs 48-8 in the Tobacco Festival Bowl.

Jacob Naylor threw for 132 yards with three touchdowns. Lennon Ries caught two of those while Edward Barber snagged the other. On the ground, Barber added another touchdown. Ryan Flores and Jovari Gamble also ran for scores.

Hunter McDowell made six out of seven extra point kicks.

The Panthers host Crittenden County (7-1) this Friday.
