Two inmates are at large after stealing a vehicle and leaving their work release site at East Logan Water in Russellville Thursday morning.

Andy S. Akers, 42, and Sherman Louis Townsend, 46, both qualified to be part of the Logan County Detention Center work release program.

Akers is a white male, 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He has a skull tattoo with a hat on top of its head.

Akers was arrested for criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by unlawful taking. He was eligible for parole in May of 2018.

Townsend is a white male, 5-foot-6, 165 pounds., with brown hair and blue eyes.

Townsend was arrested for theft by unlawful taking, burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence. He was eligible for parole in January 2018.

Escaping from the work release program, if convicted, carries a sentence of five additional years in prison.

An inmate walked off the worksite at the Logan County Humane Society on Sept. 10. He was captured a few days later.
