A Tennessee man took police on a high-speed chase Saturday beginning in Russellville and ending in Auburn.

Jeremy Powell, age 42, of Signal Mountain, Tenn. refused to yield for Russellville Police after they attempted to stop him for driving erratic.

A report came in claiming Powell was forcing other vehicles off the road.

The chase saw Powell accelerating to speeds greater than 80 mph at times with officers in pursuit.

The Logan County Sheriff's Department responded as well joining forces with the RPD to stop Powell before he injuried himself or others.

The incident began on the Bypass with Powell entering U.S. 68 heading east toward Auburn. Officers stopped Powell near Cemetery Road.

After a slight struggle, police arrested Powell and took him to the Logan County Detention Center.

A South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force vehicle was severely damaged while bringing the pursuit to a close.

Powell is being charged with 20 separate crimes including fleeing and evading police first-degree, numerous counts of wanton endangerment first-degree (police), criminal mischief first-degree, resisting arrest, DUI (aggravated), reckless driving, speeding and numerous other charges.

Deputy Josh Toomey of the Logan County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.
