On Sept. 7, 2018, agents with the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 BMW SUV for failing to use a turn signal. Contact was made with the driver, Christopher Abney, 45, of Russellville.

Abney gave consent to agents to search his vehicle. Located in the back seat was a duffle bag containing a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Approximately 5.8 ounces (165.7 grams) were located with a street value of $16,500. Also located was an electronic weight scale was inside the duffle bag.

Abney was lodged in Logan County Detention Center under charges of trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree, greater than 2 grams; possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (methamphetamine); possession of drug paraphernalia; improper turning; no rear view mirror, and failure to notify address change to department of transportation.
